There are several places where you can launch a kayak or canoe. Some of these include Tridge, the Chippewa Nature Center, Sanford Lake Park, and Northland Outfitters campground. You can choose from these locations if you’re looking for easy access.
Tridge
There are several locations where you can launch your kayak. A good location is Miner’s Beach, which is in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. This area is a popular spot for sea kayaking because of the cool natural features it offers. You may have to drag your kayak from the parking area to the beach, or you can use a cart to make the trip easier. There are two separate parking lots for kayakers.
Sanford Lake Park
There is a community park in Gerfask where you can launch a kayak or canoe. This park is also home to a livery building where you can rent a boat or kayak. The livery building will be open Memorial Day weekend.
Northland Outfitters campground
The Northland Outfitters campground is located on the banks of the Manistique River. This small campground offers 14 campsites and four cabins. Kayaks and canoes can be rented here. The campground is also home to a volleyball court and horseshoe pit.
Gerfask offers several places for kayak launching, including the Community Center and Northland Outfitters campground. Both have horseshoe pits and volleyball courts, and you can paddle right up to the Manistique River. There are also restrooms and picnic areas available for guests.
The Northland Outfitters campground is located on 14 acres of land near the Hiawatha National Forest. It’s far from the hustle and bustle of Detroit and Lansing, yet close to Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. The campground is a great place for anyone looking for an authentic forest experience. You can choose between 14 tent campsites and a camping cottage.
