If you’re planning a family vacation to Lake Crescent, you’re probably wondering where to rent kayaks. The good news is that each and every site along the 12-mile-long lake has kayak rentals available. There are three main locations: Fairholme General Store, Lake Crescent Lodge, and Log Cabin Resort. Read on for more information. Here are some ideas:
Fairholme General Store
If you’re staying in one of the cabins on the shore of the beautiful lake, consider renting a kayak or paddle board from the Fairholme General Store. The store offers kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards for rent and a day-use area for guests. All of the equipment you need for an active vacation is available to rent at the store. The store also has boat tours of Lake Crescent.
Kayak rentals on Lake Crescent are available at the town’s Fairholme General Store. Kayaks can be rented at the general store for a small fee, and kayaks are easy to transport and store. The lake is a beautiful, clear body of water, and you’ll be able to paddle around it in no time. Kayaks and paddleboards are available for rent at the store, which is also a restaurant and café.
If you want to explore the water, Lake Crescent is an ideal spot for swimming and fishing. The beach is located near Fairholme General Store, which has a cafe. The water in Lake Crescent is filled with a variety of fish, including Beardslee trout and Crescenti trout. You can even enjoy a picnic at the lakeside picnic areas. There are several camping sites available on the lake, and the Olympic National Park is only a short drive away.
Lake Crescent Lodge
You can rent kayaks, paddleboards, canoes, and paddles at Lake Crescent Lodge. You will also need lifejackets. If you want to go fishing, you can also rent a kayak from the lodge. You can fish for Beardslee rainbow trout, a popular fish in the area. Once you’ve rented your kayaks, you can take them for a trip.
The lake is cold, but not too cold. Unlike other areas of Washington, the lake has a temperature that never gets below 40 degrees. If you’re unsure about the water temperature, you can check with the lodge. If you rent a kayak, you should check ahead. While there’s no beach on Lake Crescent, there are some other nearby spots that offer kayaking. There are also rental locations for bikes, paddleboards, and other outdoor equipment.
The lake is located within Olympic National Park, so you should purchase an America the Beautiful pass to get into the park. The entrance fee is $30 and is valid for seven days. You can also purchase an annual pass. If you plan to camp on the lake, you can camp at Fairholme Campground. It has wooded sites, flush toilets, but no showers. If you bring your kayaks, you can also explore the lake on your own.
If you’re planning a camping trip, Log Cabin Resort on the lake’s northern shore is an excellent home base. It’s also a short drive from the Spruce Railroad trailhead. Kayak and paddleboard rentals are available at the Log Cabin Resort, which is an ideal location for hiking Devil’s Punchbowl Trail and the Lake Crescent area. The restaurant at the lodge offers meals that are enjoyed outdoors. You can also grab a bite from the Sunnyside Cafe.
Log Cabin Resort
If you want to explore the lake from a different perspective, you can rent kayaks and paddleboards at Log Cabin Resort on the north shore of Lake Crescent. You can also rent a canoe or paddleboard from the resort, which offers scenic picnic spots. A restaurant on site offers a variety of local dishes and is open for breakfast and dinner. The resort also offers day-use parking.
There are several public and private boat ramps along U.S. 101. Fairholme and Storm King have boat ramps that allow guests to launch their kayaks. The Log Cabin Resort offers a private boat ramp. Depending on the time of year, the water temperature can drop below 50 degrees. This makes kayaking in Lake Crescent dangerous, so be sure to check the water temperature before getting into the water.
If you don’t feel like paddling on your own, Log Cabin Resort has a shuttle service to the lake. If you want to stay on the property, you can enjoy a gourmet breakfast in the restaurant or dine at the log cabin resort’s restaurant. Alternatively, you can book a boat shuttle to take you to the nearest kayak rental location. The shuttle service will cost you according to the length of the trip.
If you plan to paddle on Lake Crescent, make sure to rent a kayak from La Poel. The lakeside resort is only a few miles from the trailhead. Besides kayak rentals, the resort also offers bike rentals and paddleboarding. You can paddle all the way to Devil’s Punchbowl, or you can rent kayaks for just a couple of hours. Renting kayaks from the resort is a great way to avoid poison oak on the trail.
The best time to rent a kayak is during the summer months. The twig-strewn shores aren’t exactly ideal for a beach day, but they are still one of the best stretches of the lake. The water is relatively shallow, which makes it much warmer. Plus, there are several picnic tables and vault toilets to use. If you arrive early enough, you can even take your kayaks with you on the trip.
You can also rent rowboats at the lodge. If you aren’t sure how to paddle on the lake, you can try the lake’s many islands. The lake is so beautiful and peaceful that thousands of visitors flock to it each year. You can even take a kayak with you if you have a small group. It’s a wonderful way to experience the beauty of the lake without a crowd.
Moments in Time Trail
The Moments in Time Hike & Bike Trail traverses 2.17 miles from the Granbury Airport to Shanley Park / Bicentennial Park, north of the Historic Downtown Square. Along the trail, you can view interpretive signs that explain the early history of the area. Once you reach the waterfall, you can continue the loop on the opposite side of the lake. The final stretch of the trail leads you back to the ranger station.
The moment in time trail is a self-guided nature loop that travels through forest, a small meadow, and along the shore of Lake Crescent. It is wheelchair-accessible and features a mixture of large and young trees. Along the way, you will learn about the history of the area and the history of the lake. The main loop is located about 0.3 miles west of the park’s ranger station parking lot.
Spruce Railroad Trail
There are several places to rent kayaks in Lake Crescent, a six-mile-long lake with crystal-clear waters. The area has been popular with boaters since 1916. Renting a kayak from Lake Crescent Lodge is a great way to explore the lake and enjoy the views. You can also paddle to Devil’s Punchbowl or pull up to a rocky beach for a picnic. You can also take a guided kayak tour of Lake Crescent with Adventures Through Kayaking.
Hiking along the railroad trail is another great way to enjoy the natural scenery. The trail is four miles long and begins at North Shore Road. At the top of the trail, you can look over Mount Storm King and the Spruce Railroad Tunnel. It also has paved sections for biking and hiking, as well as dirt paths for mountain biking. While hiking, be sure to carry a flashlight!
Once you arrive at the park, you can start your hike by renting a kayak. If you are a first-timer, you can rent one from a local rental shop. Alternatively, you can take a group tour with your friends and family. The only catch is that you will need to be in the same area as the others! And of course, you’ll need to make sure you don’t get wet!
