Lowrance Fish Finders – The HDS 5
The Lowrance HDS 5 fish finder is a combination of GPS chart plotter and fish finder in one compact unit. It features an advanced Active Cursor TouchPad for intuitive user interaction. The screen has a wider viewing angle and uses Insight USA ™ high-definition cartography. Other great features of this fish finder include its 30,000 watts of power and the ability to penetrate 5,000 feet of water. In addition, the HDS-5 features an internal GPS sensor and an optional external GPS sensor. ice fish finders
Another positive aspect of the Lowrance HDS 5 is its bright, easy-to-read display screen. It measures five inches in diagonally and has 480 x 480 pixel resolution. The screen is easy to read and does not fade even when viewed at an angle of up to 15 degrees. Despite its high resolution, it may require some close inspection to read all the fine details. For that reason, we recommend polarized glasses.
Another great feature of the Lowrance HDS-5 is its three chart orientation modes. These allow you to see tide data, services, and a specific object, such as a rock or a log. With these features, you can navigate more efficiently and find your way to your favorite spots.
The Lowrance HDS 5 features eight push buttons and a keypad for controlling its functions. Pressing the keypad will open the onscreen menu and allow you to manipulate the other controls. The keypad can also be used to customize the page screens or combination of pages. The HDS 5 also has five main pages and two windows.
The HDS-5 and HDS-7 also feature a Sonar Settings Menu. You can adjust the Surface Clarity and Noise Rejection settings to suit your fishing style. For example, if you want to fish at night while the moon is too bright for you to see the moon, you can adjust the Surface Clarity by slowing the scroll speed of the screen.
